HORSESHOE BEND | James Duane Leazer Rasmussen was born Oct. 18, 1976, in Twin Falls to Kenneth and Sharla Owens Leazer. He passed to the next life on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, in Boise.
James and his brother, Cody, followed their mother, Sharla, into the Rasmussen family in 1988. After attending school in Jerome, he married Stephanie Walker and they had two children, Dylan and Karolina. They resided in Boise for several years while James attended ITT Tech for drafting. They separated in 2010. James met and was engaged to Courtney Sullivan, the mother of Madelynne, Pierce and Analiese. To this couple was born James’s third child, Statham Edward Rasmussen. They made their home in Horseshoe Bend until the time of his death.
James is survived by his fiance, Courtney; his mother, Sharla, and his father, Rocky; two brothers, Jason and Cody; and six children. He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Leazer.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Life Church of Magic Valley, 25 E. 100 S. in Jerome, and again at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Horseshoe Bend American Legion Hall, 120 W. Boise St. in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho. James’s family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in his name to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
James & I went to elementary school together in good ol' Jerome, ID. He played sports & I cheered, so we spent a lot of time with one another throughout the years, and became great friends. He's the epitome of a true friend! I honestly believe that he left this earthly life without a single enemy!
He is one of the people that I've always kept in contact with. We've had great times gathering for drinks and laughs.
To volunteering at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Boise, ID.
To Supporting Framily at the Relay for Life in Twin Falls, ID.
We've even re-lived some old memories of painting our "School Rock" at JHS in the middle of the night during our 15 yr class reunion.
He was sure to add the names of our Classmates in Heaven..
While I was away working in Goldbar, WA, I received the news that No One wants to hear. Our Big Giant Reliable Teddy Bear Protector Soul Friend had left this Earthly Life.
Wrenched with pain, I followed the guidance of my Almighty and omnipresent Angels into the most serene place I could find..
To sob uncontrollably.
And Pray.
Then followed the Great Guidance to a beautiful secluded place.
I'd finally found the perfect place to drown out my sorrows.
On the way, I found a "DUCK" that someone else had left for a loved one & knew that I MUST leave one for him too.
I crawled out on to the log. Listened to the water flow beneath, the birds chirping, the bugs buzzing, and the sweet breath of my Creator. I connected with my soul in a way that cannot be described.
Upon the sunset of the day of his passing, after his "Duck" was completed, I saw his golden spirit stand above the water and smile at me.
I have no doubt that his spirit will live on forever in all of those of us that Love Him!
I was able to make it back to ID in time to drive down to my hometown for his Celebration of Life Service.
It was perfect! It was Fabulous seeing so many people gather for the Love one One Friend!
I had a wonderful time catching up with classmates and painting the school rock late at night in honor of Sweet James.
May You Rest In Peace Until We Meet Again My Friend!
I Love You!
